Twin Sharks was the 6th Firefly built at Latitude 8 Yachts and was launched on the 3rd of December 2006 and competed the following day in the Firefly 850 one design class of the 20th Kings Cup regatta. Owned by retired English gent Bill Phelps who relegated himself to mast man so that Brent Gribble and Ross Blair could share the helming duties, newcomer Twin Sharks surprised the others to take 2nd overall in the inaugural Regatta for the Firefly 850 class from the all conquering Chi Machine, with Vendee globe sailor Kito de Pavant on the helm.

 During the next 3 years Sharkie competed in 2 Langkawi regattas, for a 3rd and 2nd, 3 Phang Nga Bay regattas for two 3rd s and a 2nd and the inaugural Phuket Multihull Challenge again for 2nd as well as Phuket Race Week twice for a 2nd and a 4th in 2008 although the 4th place was only 3 points behind the winner after 8 races.

The 2007 Kings Cup regatta was not a good year for Twin Sharks as a serious collision with another Firefly SEA Properties saw skipper Brent Gribble hospitalized. While SEA sustained serious damage Twin Sharks suffered damage only to her foam bow “bumper” and was able to race 2 days later managing a 3rd place

In the 2008 Kings Cup, again in a fleet of 8 Fireflys, Twin Sharks finished 3rd behind SEA Properties and Voodoo Child.

For the 2009 Kings Cup regatta class designer Mark Pescott teamed up as tactician with Brent Gribble on the helm for Twin Sharks to take her first regatta victory from Voodoo and SEA Properties.

Twin Sharks is well maintained by Mark Pescott and when not racing is stored on the hard at Latitude 8 yachts in Rawai. Phuket.
