Fireblade 11.6 and 12.5 Performance Catamarans

The Fireblade catamarans are an exciting range of performance sailing catamarans which are centred around a large open cockpit. These designs are a development of the open cockpit Whitehaven 10.95, Seekronghuk,  built for Tim Milner  by Latitude 8 Yachts in Phuket. This design range maximizes the enjoyment of sailing a performance catamaran with the large open cockpit offering excellent all round visibility. With the large optional solid bimini roof it also makes an ideal short or long term cruiser, especially for the tropics. Soon after launching Seekronghuk Tim embarked on a year long cruise to some of the remotest areas of Indonesia in Eastern Kalimantan and Suluwesi.

While the overall designs are a development of the smaller open cockpit Whitehaven 10.95, the hull shape is a development of the very successful Firefly 850 hull. Construction is of strip plank cedar for the hull and part of the deck while the underwing and most of the cabin and deck areas are of foam sandwich.

Forward of the main bulkhead are 2 large cabins with queen sized double berths. Central in the hulls is the galley on one side and a nav station in the other hull. Aft is a large bathroom on one side with a large double on the other side. On deck a solid bimini covers most of the large cockpit. The large settee at the forward end of the cockpit can be converted to a large outside bed by lowering the table.

Auxiliary power is best provided by twin Yamaha 9.9hp 4-stroke outboards.

Construction of the first Fireblade 12.5 is well underway with the owner intending to enhance the performance with a powerful carbon fibre wing mast.
