The Whitehaven 11.7 is a slightly larger development of the Whitehaven 10.95 and replaces the original Whitehaven 11.1. The second Whitehaven 11.1 launched was Time Bandits built by Mike and Cathy Shelly which has been extensively campaigned in Queensland waters since its launch in 1995.

The most traveled Whitehaven 11.1 is Toby Cooper’s Aown which since its launch in 1998 has sailed over 75,000 miles around Asia and the Pacific and weathered a cyclone off Vanuatu.

Compared to the 11.1 the 11.7 is 0.4 m longer on the waterline with a 0.3m increase in overall beam. Three Whitehaven 11.7’s have been launched so far with another 2 under construction in Queensland. The large cockpit is great for socializing. Steering can be a large single wheel in the centre or twin wheels.

Engines

Engines are twin 9.9hp to 15hp 4 stroke outboard motors in pods under the cockpit seats. It is possible to have small diesels in the hulls as were installed on Majeak which was the first Whitehaven 11.1 launched in 1994.
