Hull Shape
The
underwater hull sections are designed to have minimum
wetted surface area and so have sections that are close
to semicircular. There is a slight V forward to enhance
windward performance yet enough buoyancy is retained to
provide positive lift from the bows when running or reaching.
Aft sections are more u-shaped. The resulting hull shape
has minimum wetted surface, a moderately fine length /
beam ratio, and minimum draft with minimum rocker which
I believe is as important as the length / beam ratio for
good performance.
Above
the waterline the hulls flair out into a gentle s-curve.
Not only does this flair allow a considerable increase
in room inside the hulls but has the added benefit of
providing dynamic lift forward when the boat is pushed
hard.
