At their third attempt racing in the Firefly 850 One Design class of the Phuket Kings Cup, Hans Rahmann’s Voodoo with crew of Ian, Jo Jo, Thomas and Shay-na won convincingly on points score.

Although winning 6 of the 8 races Voodoo had to work hard for each victory, on occasions coming from behind to record the win.

Although the winds were mostly light to moderate, the racing was extremely close most of the time.

In the island course, less than 3 minutes covered the first 4 Fireflys after over 4 hours of racing.

Pink Lady passed Twin Sharks to beat her for third only a few metres from the finish, while in the next days racing Voodoo passed Pink Lady just before the finish to beat her by only a metre over the line.

In the final race Roger Kingdon’s Moto Inzi and Andrew Marshall’s Pink Lady battled for the lead as a win would give either boat a second place overall while second in the final race would give that boat 4th overall.

An intense gybing duel developed on the final leg with the breeze fading and it was Pink Lady who prevailed by just a boat length to take the win and 2nd in the series.

John Newnham’s Twin Sharks started the series well and took the 3rd place honours.

Now regular competitor Pierre Forsans's Pagatoon and newcomer Richard Colman,s SEA Properties were never far off the pace.

Congratulations to Hans and his tight knit crew for their Kings Cup win on Voodoo as they once again display that a regular crew that often sail together will always be hard to beat.
