For the second year in succession Hans Rahmann’s Voodoo has claimed the coveted “Firefly of the Year” award with wins in SEA Properties Phuket Multihull Championships and Phuket Race Week. Voodoo had to fend off a challenge from Twin Sharks in the Multihull Regatta to win by 1 point, but dominated Phuket Race Week to retain the title. Ably crewed by Hans’s regular crew of Ian and Jo Jo with the help of young guns Thomas and Lance, Voodoo had to concede the first race to surprise winner Pink Lady before winning 4 of the remaining 6 races with Moto Inzi and SEA Properties also scoring a win each.

The weather conditions were mostly favourable for both regattas with perfect racing conditions of 15-18 knots for most of the races. However the wet season reared its ugly head on the last day of Race Week with squalls of over 35 knots and “white out” driving rain testing the fleet.

The Phuket Firefly fleet now prepare for the Kings Cup Regatta with Hans’s Voodoo and crew keen to win the only regatta that is yet to elude them.
